Type of works: Fire - Fire Alarm Refit Works
Following a fire where the existing fire alarm system did not function correctly, Rose Fire & Security Ltd were commissioned to look at the existing system and propose a full upgrade. On phase one of the project, in accordance with LFB (London Fire Brigade) and Building Control requirements, we designed and installed a new system utilising a large portion of the existing cable infrastructure to maximise savings. The new analogue addressable system was configured with multiple cause and effect sequences for lift grounding, fire service calling and automatic opening vent controls all by individual dwelling blocks.
The second phase of the projected required a new smoke control system which utilised an existing riser in each core with a newly formed stairwell smoke vent. Rose Fire & Security Ltd installed a system to actuate the riser cupboard doors on each floor of each block, and a newly installed staircase smoke vent to provide electrical opening and closing and manual fire brigade override. These smoke control systems were controlled by the analogue addressable fire alarm system with field detection devices installed on phase 1.
The extremely complex cause and effect was programmed by our engineers to provide the required safety interlocks, and manual opening and closing with signalling to the porters lodge of open-close sequences and to an alarm receiving centre.
Projected completed September 2018.
