Type of works: Fire - Positive Pressure Smoke Control Fans
Rose Fire & Security Ltd were commissioned to upgrade the existing fire alarm control panel and fields detection devices. The fire alarm system interfaces to positive pressure smoke control fans which drive to an increased rate of pressure in a fire alarm system activation. This prevents smoke from filling the stairwell and lift shafts as the stairwell is the primary means of escape, and the lifts are designated as firefighting lifts and used by the fire and rescue service. The system does not have fire alarm sounders throughout the building as it is a stay put policy, the 24HR Porters have a special fire pager which alerts them to an activation of the fire alarm system should they not be in the Porters lodge and out on the site.
The system is signalled via a Grade 4 signalling device to an alarm receiving centre to ensure immediate fire and rescue service response.
Project completed in 2018.
